As a lipstick girl that rarely wears lip gloss, I questioned myself if i’m the right person to write a review for a WHOLE range of lipgloss, when I received this package from Essence. But I am glad that I decided to do it because I may have changed my thoughts about lipglosses being gross and sticky. And I know I’m long overdue with this review but I really wanted to test them out thoroughly.
This new range consists of 13 lip glosses and Essence promises a ultra high shine “wet – look” without being sticky.Besides the normal glossy finish, there are also 3 prisma glow (somewhat like an updated version of the 90s frosted lipstick finish) and 3 bold finish glosses in the line up.They all have a sweet raspberry bon-bon scent. You can find them in stores now for just 1,95€ !
01 behind the scenes
It’s a basic clear gloss perfect for trasforming matte lipsticks/liquid lipsticks into a glossy finish. No swatches since it’s colourless anyways.
02 smile,sparkle,shine (prisma glow finish)
A pale. cool toned light pink with a silver frosted finish.
03 friends of glamour
A sheer pink with silver/pink glitter. It colour payoff is minimum,so rather a subtle glitter top coat.
04 flirt alert
A high-shine semi opaque warm pink which would look good on most people. But the colour may not show up at all on dark, pigmented lips.
05 so into it
A cool glossy taupish brown which is rather opaque for a gloos. Also note that it looks darker in the tube.
06 bright on!(prisma glow finish)
Light neutral brown with micro shimmer and duo chrome (green/magenta) glitter. This is the most metallic, frosted one in the range.
07 happiness in a bottle
A pinkish mauve shade, basically a “your lips but better” shade.
08 indie romance
Light milky bubble gum pink. This one was a bit streaky when applied, but I generally tend to have problems with milky light pink,so not certain if it’s the gloss or just me.
09 one woman show (the bolds)
Neon fuchsia pink that’s really pigmented. The application was not very even with one swipe,I had to pay more attention while applying to make it look even.It would work better on top of a lipstick or lipliner.
10 dress up our lips!
Warm medium nude brown. My favourite neutral in the range.
11 for a night out (prisma glow finish)
Dark metallic purple/burgundy with silver iridescent shimmer.
12 runway, your way (the bolds)
A stunning warm purple, but like the fuchsia bold one,the application was not very even.
13 red carpet starlet (the bolds)
Bright neutral red, my personal favourite out of “the bolds” one. The gloss was pigmented and easy to apply.
These glosses are comfortable to wear, most importantly non sticky. The colour selection is fabulous, from a variety of nudes to bold purple and red ,also the edition of metallic finishes is nice to have.Since it does not claim to be long-lasting,these last about 2 hours on average ,which is normal for a lip gloss. For it’s price,I would say they are excellent! Especially for girls who would like to play with high-shine lip gloss finish but doesn’t want to splurge on MAC Lipglasses yet.
