The Best Red Lipsticks

I’ve always loved red lipsticks, there is something about the color red that makes me feel powerful and feminine at the same time.I don’t get why people associate wearing red lipsticks with special occasions,I wear it when ever I want to,it can be going out shopping, for a date (But apparently it scares off guys?!TBH,don’t care…) or a girls night out.And when people stare.I just smile at them with confidence. With the love for red lipsticks comes a collection of it and I picked out 8 of the best in my opinion to help you find the red lipstick you want.It when people say all red lipsticks are the same, show them this post 😉

1.YSL “Rouge Pur Couture” #1 Le Rouge

Le rouge of the house YSL is a vivid neutral red that is perfectly balanced between cool and warm.Leaves a beautiful sheen with its satin finish. The texture is extremely smooth making the application like a dream.I do recommend to pair this lipstick with a liner, because it’s slick on the lips. Also, the gorgeous all metal packaging feels really luxurious in the hands.

2.Max factor “the Marilyn Monroe lipstick collection” 1 Ruby Red

A very bright red with satin finish inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s iconic lip shade.Looks great on all skin tones. The pigmentation is not overly opaque making it very easy to wear, but it’s buildable to full coverage.Formula wise, super lightweight, not drying.Best option as your first red lipstick for a bargain price.

3.Dior “Rouge Dior” #999

The Dior red,one of the most famous red lipsticks on the market. The color 999 is a tribute to Christian Dior’s legendary lipstick #9 that was first worn in 1947 on his debut runway show. This red leans slighty towards the warmer side.Really creamy, and the finish is quite glossy. The addtion of hyaluronan in the formula makes it super moisturising as well. A must have for every red lipstick lover.

4.YSL “Vernis á Lèvres/Glossy Stain” 11 Rouge Gouache

A lipstick, lipgloss, lipstain hybrid.Juicy rich strawberry red with a glossy finish. The glossiness wears off after 3 to 4 hours but still leaves behind a strong color. Also perfect for doing a gradient lip look. It usually stays up to 7 hours on my lips. It’s my favourite glossy red for sure.

5.NYX Matte Lipstick “Perfect Red”

The most affordable one on this list.A cool toned red. It’s highly pigmented, creamy and very long-lasting,not drying at all.If you’re looking for a matte red lipstick at a reasonable price, this is your best choice! But do bear in mind that the packaging is really cheap, almost like a Barbie toy. There is also another shade called “Pure Red” from the same line which has a warmer undertone.

6.MAC “Ruby Woo”

One of mac’s best-selling reds.Ruby woo is a cool toned, medium dark red with a matte finish. The formula is drying but it lasts on me for 8 hours without any smudging. There is a slight tug when applying.I highly suggest using a lip brush for application.

7.L’Oréal Color Riche Collection Privée “15 Blake’s Pure Red”

A really close dupe to “ruby woo” from mac.But this one is not as matte and slightly more creamier, also a tiny bit cooler when swatched on my arm.On the lips, you can’t barely tell them apart.

8.MAC “Diva”

My favourite red lipstick for the winter months.Diva is a dark, warm burgundy red.The finish is matte but slightly smoother than “ruby woo” and it lasts around 6 hours without smudging on me.

I’m more drawn to the matte-er and dark, rouge-er reds in your swatches. They are all great picks though!
